A Week at a Time | 12/30/16

When life gets crazy or exciting or overwhelming or things change, I write. It’s always been this way for me. And so as an extension of this, I am going to have a weekly, “here’s a little bit of life”, post. From working in college ministry to life as a part time nanny. Date nights and soccer games on the weekends. Reading and drinking coffee and squeezing in a run. Just taking a moment to look back at what the week has brought me before plunging into that all so wonderful weekend!

I have enjoyed the lighter workload and the last two weeks and I just don’t want to imagine going back to my normal working hours. I have gotten a few runs in as well as more quality snuggle time with Zoe. I have gotten some much needed blog work done and done some envisioning for the future. I have made some decisions and got some rest, and it’s been needed.  Continue reading “A Week at a Time | 12/30/16”

A Week at a Time | 9/30/16

When life gets crazy or exciting or overwhelming or things change, I write. It’s always been this way for me. And so as an extension of this, I am going to have a weekly, “here’s a little bit of life”, post. From working in college ministry to life as a part time nanny. Date nights and soccer games on the weekends. Reading and drinking coffee and squeezing in a run. Just taking a moment to look back at what the week has brought me before plunging into that all so wonderful weekend!

Coming to you a little late because man oh man it’s been a week. It’s been a week where balance just didn’t happen (does it ever…?). After babysitting two fun (read: energetic & full of questions) little girls the entire weekend, I jumped right into the work week, and let me tell you, I do not recommend making that a regular thing. Late Night Notes // Life of a Night Owl

This post was started many weeks ago and has been a work in progress since.

Maybe it’s because I’ve gotten more sleep in the last few days then I have in the last few weeks. Maybe it’s because I’ve just discovered some great Instagram feeds that have me all inspired and feeling creative. Maybe it’s because I have this sneaking hunch that change is right around the corner and I want it to be something amazing. Maybe it’s because Continue reading “Late Night Notes // Life of a Night Owl”

A Week at a Time | 9/16/16

When life gets crazy and exciting and things change, I write. It’s always been this way for me. And so as an extension of this, I am going to have a weekly, here’s a little bit of life, post. I would love to say what this will include, but who knows! From working in college ministry to life as a part time nanny. Date nights and soccer games on the weekend. Reading and drinking coffee to cleaning the turtle tank and squeezing in a run. Just taking a moment to look back before plunging into the weekend!

This week is a start of some mellowing/forming of an almost routine in my schedule, I think. I hope. With the fall semester starting, the last couple weeks (months) have been all about college ministry. And they have been full to the brim with work (and squeezing in a long weekend in Cape Cod), and really, I have been loving it. So much planning and big picture work mixed with details and nitty gritty. It has been a continuous lesson in Continue reading “A Week at a Time | 9/16/16”

The Joys in Returning

I love new adventures and staying in new places and learning new ways of doing things. But there is a certain bit of joy that comes from the comfort and familiarity of one’s own home. I’ve put together a list of a few little things that I look forward to when I come home. Some of these things seem small, but most of you travelers will Continue reading “The Joys in Returning”

Thoughts on Solitude | Cruise Day 4

Our second day in port. This time we were in Progreso, Mexico. Home to Mayan ruins, nice beaches and lots of history. But I didn’t want any of it.

I guess that’s not entirely true. In fact, all morning I had been back and forth with what I actually wanted to do that day. Continue reading “Thoughts on Solitude | Cruise Day 4”

The Hermitage: A President’s Home for Presidents Day

Towards the end of May on a rainy, gray Tennessee morning, with camera in hand, I set out to explore The Hermitage. It was humid and sticky as I followed the path to the house from the parking lot. Upon arrival, I soon came to realize that this was not my first time to be here. Continue reading “The Hermitage: A President’s Home for Presidents Day”
