This first ever weekend girls weekend with my mom and (one of) my sister was an incredibly fun success! Our four days in Massachusetts started and ended in Boston, with plenty of Cape Cod adventures in between.
Each time I’ve been in New York City I have stayed on the Upper West Side. So I may be biased, but if you want to experience NYC like a local, I think this is a great start. Here are a few reasons I love calling Upper West Side home when I visit The Big Apple!

After visiting Liberty Island we took the short boat ride to Ellis Island to enjoy all the history on the most beautiful day in New York.
While I loved riding the Staten Island Ferry and catching views of the Statue of Liberty and that iconic NYC skyline, a proper visit to Liberty Island and Ellis Island were on the must do list this visit. I was grateful for a beautiful morning with plenty of blue skies and sunshine to take in this iconic piece of history.
My first trip to New York City took place last year, in August. I was (and always am) excited to go back. But I was extra excited to go back when it would not be quite so warm out. When scarves and boots were the best attire choice, and it was just in time to see the first few indicators that Christmas is coming.

Our second day in port. This time we were in Progreso, Mexico. Home to Mayan ruins, nice beaches and lots of history. But I didn’t want any of it.

Day number three of our cruise was the first day at port. We had arrived to Cozumel in the wee hours of the morning. So we had a quick bite to eat from the breakfast buffet and headed for land.
While there was plenty of shopping and things to see just off the boat, we opted for an all inclusive excursion by catamaran to Passion Island that we had booked the day before through the cruise line.
Day two was an ‘at sea’ day and so spent entirely on board the Carnival Triumph. There was a full schedule of events with something for just about everybody. We opted for a leisurely brunch in the Paris dining room to get the day started.
