Here’s the big one. Here’s the one nobody wants to tackle. That includes me. So in an effort to be real with you, here are the numbers (spoiler: it isn’t great)…
I owned 46 pair of shoes.
I now own 36 pair of shoes.
How do I own that many pairs of shoes? How did I only get rid of ten pair? To be honest, I do not think I did well today. I think that number of shoes automatically disqualifies a person from being a minimalist. But when I go through and think of each pair, I know I have worn them recently and I like all of them and they fit me. I don’t mean fit me as in the size of my foot, my feet stopped growing years ago! I mean, they fit who I am, what I do, where I’m going and I wear them regularly.
Let’s look at both sides of the coin. Let’s appreciate the victory here as well: I got rid of a lot that I didn’t think I would/could. And I am proud of that! Because, even though there were some that I used to wear a lot, or I really liked them so much for so long, I knew it was time and I have let them go.
And in an effort to be completely transparent with you. I am posting this because I want to do it before the day is over and stay on track, but I don’t think today’s challenge is really complete. I plan to re-visit the shoes challenge before the month is over.
Lastly, after two and a half years of living in this house with an extra bedroom, we are getting a queen size bed for that spare room. So, the ever growing pile of stuff from the last dozen days that needs to leave the house, has got to go. And it’s got to go like, right now! And I have no boxes to put things in to send them on their way… Honestly, I’m tempted to just put it ALL in the dumpster… I mean, the trash does get picked up tomorrow… Stay tuned!
