A Week at a Time | 11/4/16

When life gets crazy or exciting or overwhelming or things change, I write. It’s always been this way for me. And so as an extension of this, I am going to have a weekly, “here’s a little bit of life”, post. From working in college ministry to life as a part time nanny. Date nights and soccer games on the weekends. Reading and drinking coffee and squeezing in a run. Just taking a moment to look back at what the week has brought me before plunging into that all so wonderful weekend!

This week started with my Dad taking a trip to the emergency room with a stroke. And so my week consisted of cutting back to minimal hours at work and spending all my time at the hospital. So grateful that, as strokes go, it was minor. Still waiting for answers as to why this happened, but praying for grace to rest even if we don’t get answers. It’s been a week of hard conversations, but also so much sweet laughter and conversations with family. So thankful to every person who sent their love and who came out to visit. We really are blessed to be surrounded by such dear people.

Dog Life

It’s been tough on the pup too, me not being home as much. But My Mom, sister, and I took an hour or so to enjoy some nicer weather and go for a walk one evening this week. It was nice to talk about something besides test results and what the next move would be, and just enjoy each other’s company and chat.

World Series

Hey-O Cubbies!! Fan or not, you had to be excited when they won the whole thing last night! We ordered pizza and grabbed a bucket of Halloween candy and watched the game in the hospital lobby with my Dad. We had a blast and enjoyed every last bit of the final game, extra innings and all!

I am happy to say my Dad is coming home today. And this weekend one sister is heading out after a week long visit, and another is coming for a long weekend visit. Grateful to have them close and I fully expect this weekend to consist of more family time and maybe a couple local coffee shop runs.
