Isla de la Pasion | Cruise Day 3

Day number three of our cruise was the first day at port. We had arrived to Cozumel in the wee hours of the morning. So we had a quick bite to eat from the breakfast buffet and headed for land.

While there was plenty of shopping and things to see just off the boat, we opted for an all inclusive excursion by catamaran to Passion Island that we had booked the day before through the cruise line.

A catamaran took us from the dock out to the small island. With music turned up and all the cheesy jokes from our captain, the fun got started right away.

Once we arrived at the island we walked a bit until we reached the far end of the beach and set up to relax. We grabbed a spot near some shady hammocks with a beach mattress with an umbrella covered table near by.  This way we were a little further away from the excitement of the water trampoline, beach volleyball and kayaking that was also happening. Our server Miguel was friendly, full of laughs and kept the cold drinks coming.

I was hesitant to book an excursion as I tend to prefer making my own plans rather than being herded into group activities. But it turned out to be really nice to not plan or navigate all day. It was well worth the $60 cost. Because we booked through the cruise we were guaranteed to be back to the ship in time, which took the stress off and really allowed you to sit back and relax. Included in the cost was an authentic Mexican food buffet, open bar, and all the actives previously mentioned.

After enjoying all the sun, sand, and ocean, we boarded the catamaran and headed back to the mainland. Here we had a bit of time to souvenir shop before getting back on the ship. The rest of the day consisted of laughs and card games at one of the bars and all of the delicious foods at dinner once again and then just a bit of dancing before bed.

Do you prefer the all inclusive route or would you rather set your own itinerary?
